Read below to learn more about ABA Institute Inc.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) involves the coordinated efforts of several people to be properly implemented. This effort is usually led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). ABA is an intensive service because when successfully implemented it takes many hours to implement.
The structure of the ABA model includes a BCBA who develops a treatment plan, a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) who administers the treatment, and parents who support generalization of targeted skills during the normal course of their day. BCBA clinicians may also coordinate treatment with other providers such as schools, teachers, and outside therapists such as speech, occupational, or physical therapy.
ABA sessions typically occur for 3-6 hours per day and are often held in your home. The reason sessions are typically held in your home is so target skills can be taught in the place where they will naturally occur when the teaching is over. During this time a highly trained paraprofessional, or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), will work one-on-one with your child following the directions of the supervising BCBA. They will teach your child new skills and work to reduce difficult behaviors.
ABA works by carefully arranging events that occur before and after behaviors to encourage the development of new skills and the decrease of challenging behaviors. Simply put, good behaviors are systematically rewarded, while unwanted behaviors are ignored and redirected to better behaviors that are then systematically rewarded. Learn more at:
