ABA Therapy is an evidence-based intervention for children on the Autism Spectrum. ABA teaching methods are used to teach new skills and to reduce maladpative behaviors of children who have unique learning needs.
Our licensed clinicians are professionals who design intervention plans according to children standardized assessments, discussions with caretakerrs and careful records review. They also write behavior plans when necessary; and provide training to staff and parents, as well as supervision ofthe administration of those behavior plans.
Licensed clinicians provide individualized parent training to help parents learn and practice effective teaching methods using the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis at home.
We here at Applied Behavior Analysis Institute have historically worked with underserved, low income Families. Many of the families we work with do not have the resources necessary to support their childs ABA therapy. Therapy often requires expensive materials and may include costly insurance copays.
Therapy often occurs daily and some of our patients’ families have difficulty making a daily copay; those costs add up quickly. As a result, many families opt for less hours of treatment for their child simply because they can’t afford their insurance copays. We believe that all children should have access to high quality intervention regardless of income level. Therefore, we are seeking assistance for those families.
Many children attend schools where their Individualized Educational Programs are not being administered and/or implemented according to the law which results in a lower quality education than they are entitled to. In these instances, a knowledgeable clinician can meet with school faculty to insure the child’s rights are not being violated. Often families cannot afford to pay the clinician for those advocacy services and must settle for a substandard education for their children because they are not familiar with special education laws and their rights as parents.
Because we often work with low income families many of those families struggle to meet expenses associated with treatment that their insurance does not cover. For example, language delay is a defining characteristic of autism. Often clinicians, such as ourselves, use language building cards to help children develop functional language skills. Those cards range in price from about $25.00 - $175 (https://www.amazon.com/s?k=language+builder+cards&ref=nb_sb_noss_2); children often need many sets of cards such as nouns, opposites, community helpers, and the like
Funds raised through this campaign will be used to purchase materials, assist with copays, and provide IEP advocacy for low income families.
