Our Autism Services

We offer a wide spectrum of autism services and supports for our families

Individual planning

Here at ABAI we take a three-pronged approach to assessment of your child’s abilities to identify areas of need for skill acquisition planning. ABAI clinicians start by getting to know you and your child through observations and both formal and informal interviews. We listen carefully to parents and guardians to learn what skills are most important for their child to know in order to increase their success in their home, school, and community environments. Our clinicians will also administer an age-appropriate standardized assessment for each of the five developmental domains: 1) Communication, 2) Cognitive, 3) Social/Emotional, 4) Motor Functions, and 5) Adaptive Living Skills. Last, we review any available documentation relevant to your child’s development. This includes, but is not limited to, school records, psychological assessment, speech/language assessments, occupational therapy assessments, and physical therapy assessments. We are particularly eager to collaborate with all of your child’s teachers and therapists to help facilitate growth and generalization of skills.

In addition to planning for skill acquisition, we also plan for behavior reduction when necessary. If your child has a challenging behavior that interferes with his or her ability to participate in daily activities such as in school, at home, or in the community; ABAI clinicians will write Behavior Analytic behavior plans to teach alternate, more appropriate behaviors to improve your child’s success.

Free Consultation

We understand that having a child with autism is a rewarding experience that can be challenging, and at times, confusing. Parents and guardians often have questions about a wide range of concerns regarding their child’s development, school experience, alternate therapies, and many other topics. Dr. Tedoff will meet with you in person or via telehealth until all of your questions are answered to your satisfaction. Dr. Tedoff has over twenty years’ experience working with children with autism and their families and can answer many of your questions. He has also spent 12 years teaching in public schools and remains a licensed teacher here in Nevada. Your family and child can benefit from his fluent understanding of special education policies, procedures, and IEP development.

Parent Support

Parent training is often required by your child’s funding source, and there is a good reason. An ABA home program is not a single treatment, rather it is a treatment package. An ABA home program usually has multiple components. One of those components is capitalizing on the parent-child relationship to help generalize skills that are taught in session. We also teach you how to teach your child alternate, more appropriate behaviors, for problem behaviors when they are not in school or in therapy. Our clinicians will work with you to help develop practical, simple, procedures that are based in Behavior Analysis that work for you and your family. Parent trainings are individualized and based on your family’s needs.

Autism Diagnosis

ABAI staffs a part-time licensed psychologist who specializes in diagnosing autism. Families who have insurance that requires a certification of diagnosis of autism in order to access funding for treatment can have their child diagnosed at ABAI. Our licensed psychologist will administer a standardized autism diagnostic instrument to your child. If they determine your child has autism they will provide you with a written certification of autism diagnosis. Please contact our office to schedule an appointment.

Professional Development

ABAI engages in four types of continuing professional development. First, we actively recruit and train people to become Registered Behavior Technicians. ABAI has a program to support RBT candidates through the very difficult process of obtaining their credentials. Those interested in these opportunities should visit our Career page . Second, we actively work with BCBA and BCaBA candidates to help them through the very rigorous process of becoming a licensed, practicing clinicians. Those interested in these opportunities should visit our Career page. Third, all ABAI clinicians engage in required continuing education in order to stay current with the latest developments in Behavior Analysis so they can bring high level of quality care to your child and family. Last, all ABAI RBTs receive ongoing training during each supervision meeting our clinicians conduct.

Community Resources

ABAI actively develops and maintains relationships with public and private agencies that provide support for children with autism and their families. ABAI will inform you of these services and will offer to connect you with these resources when we see the need arise. We are often able to help families secure secondary funding to cover the cost of co-pays, coinsurance, and deductibles. If we do not accept your insurance, we will refer you to agencies that can help you secure a provider who will accept your insurance.
